Zelle works differently
Cash App, Venmo and PayPal each have a public pay link. Zelle does not: money is sent from inside the payer's own banking app. So a code cannot open a Zelle payment.
What this code opens is a page that says who to pay: your name, your Zelle email or number with a copy button, and the amount and note if you added them.
What the payer does
- Scans the code with their phone camera
- Checks the name on the page is yours
- Copies your Zelle email or number
- Opens their banking app and sends the payment with Zelle
What is visible
Your Zelle email or number is shown to anyone who scans the code, so use the one you are happy to have on a sign.
Those details travel in the code's own address. Making a code here does not create an account or a record of them with us.
Your bank's own Zelle code
Your banking app may offer a Zelle QR code of its own, scanned from the Zelle screen of another banking app. If your customers already use that, keep using it. This one is for a sign, a receipt or an invoice, where people will point an ordinary camera at it.
Before you print
Scan it and check the name and the email or number, character by character. Enter the name the way your bank shows it, because that is what the payer will compare it with before they send.
